Alas, our wonderful time was coming to a close. But first, after checkout out of the Cross Keys hotel, we stopped at the Stirling Castle. This castle was by far one of my favorites of the all of the castles we visited. It resembled a mini-town outside of the gates and inside there was so much to explore. From trying on costumes to walking along the castle walls, the view from the hilltop castle was gorgeous!
The drive back to the car rental agency was short and we passed the kelpie horse structures from the side of the freeway. After checking in at the same hotel we began our journey in, we visited the inside of Edinburgh castle.
The next day was spent exploring the various streets in Edinburgh and experiencing the Fringe festival. The Fringe festival consisted of music and art all around Edinburgh, so of course we enjoyed a nice pint and an ice cream cone. After this, we went to the Balmoral hotel at the whisky bar for a fancy cocktail that consisted of ALL alcohol.
We stumbled out of the hotel in search of dinner and ended up on Rose Street, a cute little street with tons of restaurants and shops.
The next morning, it was off to the airport to say goodbye to beautiful Scotland!
